Hi Y'all!

I'm Karissa Muilenburg, a certified birth doula living in Chattanooga, TN. I've been obsessed with pregnancy and childbirth for as long as I can remember. It is my honor to be invited into such a sacred and intimate experience in a family's life. I love creating a peaceful and safe space for each person whether at home, a birth center, or a hospital.

When I'm not doing birth things, I'm probably eating pizza, camping, or looking for the next dance party in town.

Pregnancy is like going to the DMV...

Hear me out.

Going to the DMV can be overwhelming and confusing because there are so many unknowns and usually misinformation.

You arrive ready for a quick visit and there are no clear signs to tell you where to go, you don't know if you should sit down or go wait in line, and by the time you get to the window (45 min later) you find out you were told to bring the wrong documents and you have to come back later.

I always ask my friends what to expect and that alone takes so much of the pressure off. When I know to "take these things, go in, grab a number, or go to this machine or wait in that line," I feel like I can go in and conquer my mission!

That's what I want to do for you. After our time together during your pregnancy you will be prepared to face so many scenarios, including: what to ask your provider, what signs to look for during labor, ways to prepare your body for birthing, jobs for your partner, and what to expect coming home with a new baby.

You are not alone, and this experience can be informed and full of preparation. I'm here every step of the way.
